My creativity evolves around re-creating what I see in Art, Nature and valuable Fabrics. I am a handbag designer and I believe that it is important for a woman/man to have something special and unique in the world. My inspiration comes from everything around me. The choice of colours derives from the what I observe in Nature’s seasons. Winter inspires dark, heavy textiles with rough textures, Autumn brings about rusty colours, the ones we observe in tree foliage in forests, Spring surprises us with rich colourful flowers and lighter materials, and Summer’s sultry weather inspires simplicity in style, warm colours and light fabrics. Artistic works be it statues, paintings, architecture…. all have a major contribution to my work. I get inspired by the different shapes of architectural buildings, the figures of statues, the colours and composition in paintings. Walking around in textiles shops I stop to feel the Fabrics that attract my attention and let my imagination guide me. Many a time I get an immediate design in my head, at other times I just purchase the textile and then the inspiration comes later, when I walk in a wood, at an art gallery, or simply when a perceive a new shape. I also enjoy re-inventing fashion from valuable fabrics that are passed on from one generation to another, and are preserved by family members in drawers opened only when memories want to be re-called, and pieces of clothing that we keep in our wardrobe but wear a few times or hardly ever and create an item that is fashionable, unique and most of all that exalts the owner’s style and personality. My handbags are almost all handmade, made from good quality fabrics and are washable. Various accessories like satin braids, lace, beads, flowers, buckles, pendants….are used to make the bag unique. The bags are designed with thought and creativity. For some people a bag is just a bag but for people like me this is THE FASHION indeed ART. I like to discuss the design, the type of textile and the colour with my clients, their ideas meet my imagination and creativity and thus a unique product emerges :I want my clients to be proud of the bags I create for them – that is why I feel that their input is essential – I want them to feel a sense of satisfaction when wearing the bag – and they do because they make a personal contribution in its making.
